Emma Barton

Occupational Therapist: MA Assistive Technology and Service Development, BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy, Advanced Diploma in Dementia Care

Emma Barton has worked as an Occupational Therapist over the past 20 years working with older adults with mental health difficulties and specialising in working with people who have dementia, their families, friends and carers. Emma has held senior management positions in the NHS and currently works as a Professional Head Occupational Therapist in the NHS.

Emma has a degree in Occupational Therapy, from Exeter University and also holds an Advanced Diploma in Dementia Care and a Masters in assistive technology and service development.

Emma utilises the Model of Human Occupation in her practice and is calibrated in the use of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPS). She is also trained in Home Based Memory Rehabilitation and the Allen Cognitive Level Screen. Emma takes an active interest in Dementia research and has been the Principal Investigator on dementia studies.

Emma represents the Royal College of Occupational Therapy on the Accrediation Committee for the Memory Service National Accreditation Program (MSNAP).

Sarah Richardson

Occupational Therapist: BSc (Hons) MSc Advanced Care in Dementia, PgDip Occupational Therapy

Sarah Richardson has specialised in Dementia Care for over fifteen years and after completing Occupational Therapy training completed a Masters in dementia care from the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London. Prior to joining CTBM full time, Sarah was the national Strategy Lead for the charity Dementia UK.

Sarah has worked clinically within NHS Memory Service settings, acute hospitals and within clinical commissioning developing dementia services across London. Sarah held senior leadership positions within dementia services and has extensive experience in delivering training to care homes, GP’s and non clinical settings.

Sarah has a clinical interest in falls in people with dementia and in dementia friendly design within home, business and outside spaces. Sarah recently completed the RIBA approved Dementia and Design course at the University of Stirling.

Sarah works holistically with a person and their families and uses an integrated approach dependant on the individuals needs. She is passionate about Occupational Therapy and the difference it can make.

Sarah represents the Royal College of Occupational Therapy on the Memory Service Standards Committee for the Memory Service National Accreditation Program (MSNAP).
